Four Possible Answers,

November 17, 2007

…none of which is worth hearing.

I couldn’t get the “boxers or briefs” question out of my mind when I read about the “diamonds or pearls” question from the debate. It became less important that the questions had all been staged by CNN, than that the CNN entertainment network has wasted time on such silliness.

Maria Luisa, the UNLV student who asked Hillary Clinton whether she preferred “diamonds or pearls” at last night’s debate wrote on her MySpace page this morning that CNN forced her to ask the frilly question instead of a pre-approved query about the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository.

Oh, and the four possible answers:

Diamonds with boxers

Pearls with boxers

Diamonds with briefs

Pearls with briefs

Now, do you see how absolutely useless this kind of thing is as an informative question?

Attention Whores

August 22, 2007

I’ve come up with this term to describe all the people who apparently have no bottom to the depths they will go to get attention. I saw a listing of three of these in a paragraph from an American Thinker article on the Media Mob.

It’s not the media mob that are the whores - usually. They’re more often in the role of pimp for the attention whores.

From the fascinating article:

American Thinker: The Media Mob

Mass killers make up the most famous names in history: Attila the Hun, Caligula, Hitler, Napoleon. But few of the famous can claim to have saved lives. Perhaps Louis Pasteur, and of course many unknown scientists and inventors in medicine, agriculture and engineering. But who is celebrated by the Media Mob? Paris Hilton. Dan Rather. Hillary Clinton. The next Democrat for president. None of them have real achievements to their credit. None of them come within miles of Norman Borlaug. (emphasis added)

And, who is Norman Borlaug, you ask? Read the article to find out.
