Absurdity Taken to Its Logical Extreme
I read Bill Press’s entry at The Hill’s Pundit Blog regarding Sicko.
I think the poor man needs to take a remedial economics class. Then he needs to take a contemporary history class. Then he should read comment number 4 to his post:
I think government should provide all plumbing services. Why? Well water and toilet facilities are necessary, and these damn plumbers charge so much. I demand my free plumbing services and feel I have a right to them. Why can’t the wealthiest country in the world provide free plumbing? We have all this money to waste in Iraq, yet poor citizens are forced to pay hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars for simple repairs. Is that fair? I feel so bad I’m about to start filming my pet project “Water Damage”.
Who would that “single payer” to whom Mr. Press refers be? Why that would be Uncle Sam - the man with no money of his own. It’s your and my tax dollars that would pay for it.
One of the commenters claims that Medicare and Medicaid can just be expanded to cover the costs and provide the service. Not while they’re trying to figure out how to dodge the $33 Trillion unfunded liability, they can’t.
