So, You Don’t Think There’s a Propaganda War

January 9, 2007

Wizbangblog.com has a post up about a report at The Blotter. This just shows how sophisticated and clever this enemy is.

Al Jazeera showed what it said was a Christmas message made by a US soldier for his family before he was killed. In the video, we see images of him with, purportedly, the soldier’s voice narrating, sometimes making anti-American and anti-war statements. There’s just one problem. The soldier is alive and well and back home with his parents. Also, he never made those anti-war and anti-American statements, and that’s not his voice on the video. The terrorist insurgents made the fake propaganda video themselves by stealing the soldier’s home video and his identity.

Now, if only the free press of the Western world would pay attention to the concerted efforts of these Islamo-fascist propagandists. When the US was involved in World War II, they had to deal with a much less sophisticated and more obvious enemy propaganda campaign.

Nowadays, the problem is that our press have become at least easy suckers for manipulation. Some would argue that parts of the press have knowingly become conduits for this propaganda.

A Very Interesting Letter

Senators Lieberman and Lindsay Graham have written a letter to President Bush, which is printed at the worldwidestandard.com.com. One paragraph that really tells the difference between their letter and the Pelosi-Reid-moonbat letter of a few days ago is this:

One proposal that we are convinced will not achieve a successful outcome in Iraq is withdrawing American troops. We will vigorously oppose any plans to do this.

This letter got me to thinking about the arithmetic of the Senate. With Sen. Johnson still disabled, the Dems have 50 voters against 49 Reps. With Joe Lieberman stating he would not vote to cut and run, that leaves at most only 49 Dems for Sen. Reid to marshal. Even if a RINO or two were to quit the fight and vote against victory, it would be hard to get to a filibuster-proof or veto-proof majority.
