Dean Barnett Invents a New Term

November 16, 2006

Dumb-off - n. a contest between Republicans and Democrats in which the contestants race to see who can lose the most votes the fastest by making the most obviously stupid choices for party leadership.
The rules stipulate that contestants must ignore constituent opinions or election results. Stuffing cotton in one’s ears is considered a violation of the rules.
Mr. Barnett makes one final comment that is important for our elected representatives to note - this is not political farce. It’s real life, with real terrorists and murderers out there.

“Is it just me, or is it becoming increasingly apparent that the Republicans and Democrats are determined to engage in a two year dumb-off? If it weren’t for the fact that there are some very determined lunatics out there trying to kill us, this would be funny.

But they are out there, so it isn’t.”

Hey! Listen to These Critics…

… of Bush’s conduct of the war. Oh, wait. They’re not saying what we want to hear. Nevermind.

The NY Times has an article about how several of the generals who’d been trotted out as Bush critics on the war in Iraq, aren’t saying exactly what the Democrat talking points do. The Worldwide Standard article,  Zinni: Surge the Force in Iraq, points out this discontinuity.
