Gold Star Families Take Secret Trip to Iraq

November 4, 2006

The Anchoress posted about an article in the Sacrament Union online about Local Gold Star Families Take Secret Trip to Iraq. One quote reminded me of the feeling I wrote about the other day:

“I want to be able to tell the troops that there are Americans who still believe we are doing the right thing by being here. We want them to know that there are people back here who are supporting and praying for them daily,” explained Joe Johnson.

These people have the right idea. They know what troops need. They understand the families’ role in a war and are as courageous as their fallen family members in carrying out their mission.

More About Scumball Seymour Hersh

In the McGill Daily article about Hersh’s speech we find the following sentences:

Hersh described video footage depicting U.S. atrocities in Iraq, which he had viewed, but not yet published a story about.

He described one video in which American soldiers massacre a group of people playing soccer.

So we’re supposed to believe that someone did something this attrocious, someone else video taped the whole thing, and hasn’t come out to reveal it yet? Seymour’s waiting for what "right" moment to reveal it? This smells very high to me.

Several questions would spring immediately to mind: 1) was it faked by newsies with an agenda; 2) was it faked by jihadists with a propaganda message; 3) is it all a video made to spread a message (i.e., Michael Moore-like, not Reuters-like)?

Hersh’s silence to date only tells me he’s got in mind an October/November surprise, not real news, not real atrocities, but propaganda pure and simple.
