Let the Efficient Marketplace Decide

October 16, 2006

MyFox Twin Cities  reports that, Airport Drops Muslim Cabbie Compromise. This is a good thing. Cabbies who are offended by potential fares carrying alcohol (or any other of the offending substances Muslims don’t want to be contaminated by) can look for work elsewhere.

But the Metropolitan Airports Commission said the public response was overwhelmingly negative, and some taxi companies feared that people opposed to the system would switch to other forms of ground transport instead of cabs.

The efficiency of the marketplace wins the argument. Don’t like carrying people in your car for some reason? Do like most of us do - don’t pick anyone else up. It doesn’t pay like cabbie work, but you’re never offended by anyone but yourself! (h/t WeekendPundit.com)

Confessions of a ‘Defeatocrat’ by Jack Murtha

In the Washington Post, Jack Murtha writes ,Confessions of a ‘Defeatocrat’. His description of the Democrats’ position is:

We Democrats are determined to restore our nation’s military strength, refocus on the real terrorist threat, bolster security safeguards at home and reestablish the credible standing we once had in the world. .

Restore the military’s strength - by voting against appropriations and authorizations? Or, simply by not using the troops in combat?

Refocus on the real terror threat  - this must mean making sure we kill Osama bin Laden. He’s the only real terrorist threat. All these others are just upset at us being in Iraq.

Bolster safeguards at home - except for illegal immigration and our borders.

Restablish our credibility internationally - work through the UN and our allies more, except for that North Korea thing.

Didn’t we have a referendum on all this just a couple of years ago? John Kerry was defeated. Why are they still using that 2004 presidential campaign platform? Don’t you just hate it when someone "stays the course," in spite of a lack of success? (h/t Instapundit.com)
