If You Like Girl Scout Cookies, or Military Service Members

October 1, 2006

Noble Duty Milblogger Coalition - A Soldier’s Perspective has a post up about ordering Girl Scout cookies to send to our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Check it out and help the troops!

I Thought I’d Heard That Somewhere Before…

Doug Ross @ Journal has a great post comparing the talking points of the liberal Democrats and the "talking points" of Aiman al Zawahiri.

Mr. adds that there is one difference between the two -

Oh, I forgot. The difference is the Democrats support the troops.

The Not-So-Secret Weapon of th Liberals

In reading a post at Back Talk called Distinguishing the Insurgency from Sectarian Violence in Iraq, the author makes the following comment:

"Woodward seems to be exploiting the emotional reasoning of liberals who are perpetually enraged at Bush."

Emotional reasoning is the not-so-secret weapon of the liberals. They attempt to cast any issue in terms of emotions and then pile on the name-calling.

You can see this in both local and national level debates. Here in Maryland, Michael Steele has been called a variety of emotion-laden names. In Virginia, George Allen has suffered the same kind of press.

If you look at reporting from the Washington Post, the NY Times or the LA Times, you’ll frequently see this technique used against conservatives. In fact, one of the great strengths of the arguments made by Thomas Sowell is the refutation of this emotionalism with cold hard facts.

Frequently, arguments have been about the "goodness" or "badness" of positions, opinions, policies, etc. Welfare reform was going to be "bad" because it would (insert emotion-laden words here) off public assistance. Gun control was "good" because it might save "even just one life" and that’s always good.
