The Pope’s Words as Heard by the New York Times

September 19, 2006

An editorial in the New York Times starts thus:

"September 16, 2006 There is more than enough religious anger in the world. So it is particularly disturbing that Pope Benedict XVI has insulted Muslims, quoting a 14th-century description of Islam as “evil and inhuman.”"

Leave it to the liberal media to rail against the Pope. The Anchoress comments on their bravery. I want to ask a fundamental question:

What do the liberals and the terrorists have in common, other than their hatred for anything Bush or the Pope? Emotions rule their lives.

Liberals want to have their feelings be their guide in life, regardless of where that decision takes them - it feels good. The Islamo-fascists let their emotions dictate their behavior. Two sides of the same coin if you ask me.

The terrorists, and I’ll throw every rioting, murdering, pillaging muslim into this group, never ask themselves, "what is the right thing to do?" They react emotionally, to whatever degree they want to vent, and claim it is their right to do so.

It is the cult of personality on a retail basis - the cult of me! And like the political beast that the cult of personality creates (Stalin, Mao, Kim Jong Il, etc.), the retail version creates mini-monsters whose only frustration is that they can’t kill their enemies on a larger scale.

The liberals find fellow travellers in these emotionally stunted cult-of-me types. Me-ism wasnt invented in the West, it’s just been enshrined here as a substitute for religion.

Show Some Real (or Reel) Courage

Dr. Sanity: In her latest post, AUDACITY, REALITY, TRUTH, AND INSIGHT, takes the Toronto Film Festival to task for their awarding "Death of a President" the Fipresci prize "for the audacity with which it distorts reality to reveal a larger truth."

Dr. Sanity slams the "audacity" of the film with this comment:

"Yeah, yeah. Every Hollywood star worth his or her salt has the delightful fantasy that they will imminently be imprisoned, tortured, and/or oppressed in some vile manner because they have the audacity to criticize Bush…but come on! It has been 5 years and I am not aware that any have yet to be locked up for their audacity. But still they continue to think of themselves as heroic and brave standing up to a democratically elected president.

Yawn."

Where is that fearless movie producer/director or actor who will show a film on the death of some tyrant - Akhmadenijad, or Castro, or Chavez, or "Dear Leader?" Now that would show some audacity.

Picking on the President of the US is hardly audacious - thousands have done it over the past 6 years and - gasp - lived to tell about it. Talk about speaking truth to power!
