NY Times Corrects a Misstatement

September 18, 2006

Instapundit points to a Power Line Blog entry that discusses a NY Times correction. In the entry, John Hinderocker notes that the reporter and correcting editor apparently didn’t read the proposed statute describing the use of evidence derived from coercion or torture when they wrote about it.

In a fit of what must be charity or generosity, Mr. Hinderocker states,

"The quality of the reporting on this issue continues to be shockingly bad."

I would say the evidence of the original and corrected text shows that the reporter and editor are agenda-driven opinion writers, not reporters. There were precious few facts sprinkled in the report and the correction to qualify it as reporting.
